• ok so im imagining like. a school play that they all got roped into by a very enthusiastic Sonia who looked so upset if they even hinted that they didn’t want to be a part of it.
• its some cheesy play with a princess and a knight who are in love and a witch that conspires against them. Sonia wrote the play herself and anyone who even hints that its kind of bad catches Gundham’s hands
• so the parts are as follows:
• Peko is the princess but she constantly tries to incorporate some subplot in which the princess is actually a kickass assassin but it gets shot down bc the entire play would be over in two minutes bc peko would just kill the witch
• (‘that’s a better play tho,’ fuyuhiko calls from the other side of the stage. chiaki nods in agreement)
• fuyuhiko is the knight and can barely get through his lines about his ‘all-consuming love’ for peko without turning so red that everyone thinks he’s about to pass out
• fuyuhiko: my love for you is like the river where we shared our first kiss: constantly on my mind
• fuyuhiko, immediately after: runs back stage and pours five bottles of water over himself
• nagito, watching: yowza
• chiaki and kazuichi are villager one and two and are so chuffed that its unbelievable. they literally have one line each and every time they do it, they get so excited and asks everyone if they thought it was good
• kazuichi to chiaki right after saying his one line ‘we love you, princess!’: I think we’re Oscar ready
• hajime, tired: please…..enough
• nagito is the evil witch and he keeps derailing the production by adlibbing all his lines and trying to give his character a backstory that is literally impossible in the context of the play
• nagito:….and that’s how I spent the weekend with George Clooney in a hot-tub
• kaz: wait you guys can just make up more lines this whole time???
• hajime plays the wise counsellor in the play and is constantly being yelled at bc he delivers all of his lines so tiredly and he’s meant to be optimistic and chipper
• Sonia: this is not very encouraging, hajime!!
• hajime: this is the third time I need to tell peko that she cant marry the knight bc of Rich People Politics. I think that the fifteen empty wine glasses around me are very realistic
• nagito interrupts his evil monologues to ask if everyone wants to go to mcdonalds after the rehearsal
• kaz from offstage: ya lol
• Sonia: can we PLEASE
• chiaki wanders onto the stage when she’s not meant to and suggests that there should be a subplot in which hajime is in love with her and they are married. hajime adds another wine glass to his pile
• fuyuhiko is constantly a pile of angst bc theres a kiss scene at the end and he kind of wants to kiss peko?? but doesn’t want to make her feel like she has to and make her uncomfortable??? his heart hurts
• hajime listening to fuyuhiko ranting about this after listening to peko rant about the exact same thing: wow. that’s wild bro
• peko shows up late to one rehearsal bc her bike broke down at the side of the road and she walks into the hall, ready to apologise and is tugged towards fuyuhiko who gives her a tight hug and murmurs into her neck that he was worried before breaking away with a red face and walking away quickly
• peko, softly: oh
• peko tells hajime whats up with her bike, some weird part needing replaced but she cant’s afford it rn and hajime pats her on the shoulder bc they are FRIENDS. after one of the last rehearsals, peko leaves and finds her bike there, with the part that needed replaced next to it with a bow. a note reads: hajime told me what needed replaced. ur very cool. – fuyuhiko
• peko thinks that no one has ever been as lovely as fuyuhiko
• kaz starts a bet about whether or not peko and fuyuhiko will kiss before the Stage Kiss: kaz thinks they won’t but hajime bets they will
• hajime wins
• he spots them just before the next rehearsal, peko holding fuyuhiko’s note in one hand, the other cradling fuyuhiko’s face. fuyuhiko bright red but persevering with his hand on peko’s wrist
• hajime is finally chipper and optimistic on stage afterwards.
